Since 1993, StageLights has provided Williamsburg youth with summer theatre opportunities.
Act I: Intro to Theatre
Our Act I Program, for students rising 3rd grade through 6th grade, is a 2-week workshop with a focus on acting techniques, performance skills, and character development as our students work to produce a play (non-musical). At the end of the camp, students perform a Family and Friends show at the program location. We accept an average of 20 students each summer. No audition is required for the Act I Program.
Act II: Intro to Musical Theatre
Our Act II Program for rising 4th to 8th graders, teaches young performers the fundamentals of musical theater. At the end of the camp, students perform a Family and Friends show at the program location. We accept an average of 20 students each summer. No audition is required for the Act II Program.
Act III: Mainstage Musical Theatre
Our Act III Mainstage Musical program for students rising grades 5th to 10th, is a three-and-a-half-week workshop taught by an artistic director, a music director, and a choreographer. Students learn choreography and singing techniques that are incorporated into multi-part musical numbers, and participate in dramatic exercises that improve their ability to portray convincing characters. They present four public performances of their musical production. We accept an average of 35 students into the Act III Program each summer. Auditions are required for this program. Please note, this is a true audition. Unfortunately, not all who audition necessarily are placed into this program.
Act III Program tuition: $400; financial aid is available to qualified applicants.
