Act I
Our Act I Program, for students rising 2nd grade through 6th grade, is a 2-week workshop with a focus on acting techniques, performance skills, and character development as our students work to produce a play (non-musical). Students perform a Family and Friends show on July 7 at the program location. We accept an average of 20 students each summer. No audition is required for the Act I Program.
Workshop dates:
Act I: Wednesday, June 21, 2023 – Wednesday, July 7, 2023, 9 a.m. – noon, James Blair Middle School
Performance: July 7, 2023, noon
Act I tuition: $250; financial aid is available to qualified applicants.
Act II
Our Act II – Mainstage Musical Program, for students rising grades 4th to 10th, is a three-and-a-half-week workshop taught by an artistic director, a music director, and a choreographer. Students are taught dance skills that are incorporated into choreography, vocal exercises and harmonizing skills that are incorporated into multi-part musical numbers, and dramatic exercises and techniques that improve their ability to portray convincing characters. They present four public performances of their musical production (traditionally accompanied by a live music ensemble) at the Williamsburg Library Theatre. We accept an average of 35 students into the Act II Program each summer. Auditions are required for this program. Please note, this is a true audition. Unfortunately, not all who audition necessarily are placed into this program.

Program dates: June 21, 2023 – July 16, 2023, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Location: James Blair Middle School
(The rehearsals will change to afternoons at the library the last week of the program. There are no excused absences during the last week.)
Performances: July 14, 2023 (7:00PM), July 15, 2023 (2:00 and 7:00 PM); July 16, 2023 (2:00 PM) at the Williamsburg Regional Library Theatre.

Act II Program tuition: $350; financial aid is available to qualified applicants.
Encore
Our Encore Program for students rising eighth- to rising twelfth-grade is a 3-week workshop with a focus on acting techniques, performance skills, and character development as our students work to produce a play. Students perform in two public performances at the Williamsburg Library Theatre. We accept an average of 15 students into the Encore Program each summer. Auditions are required for this program. Please note, this is a true audition. Unfortunately, not all who audition are necessarily placed into this program.
