Programs in a Typical Year (i.e., Pre-Pandemic)

(AND HOW THEY MIGHT LOOK IN 2022)

Act I

Our two week programs are for students grades K- 2. In this workshop we introduce children to the stage, work on skills such as projection, diction, and expression, and allow students to display a great deal of creativity as they produce their final show. Students perform a “family and friends” show on the final day of the session at the workshop location. We accept an average of 12-15 applicants into the two week program.
Registration: Continuing basis until classes are full; no audition required.

Act I, Scene 1: June 27, 2022 – July 7, 2022, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Location: TBD
Performance: July 7, 2022, 3:00 PM, Location: TBD

Act I, Scene 2: July 11-22, 2022, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Location: TBD
Performance: July 22, 2022, 11:00 AM, Location: TBD

Act I tuition: $210; financial aid is available to qualified applicants.

Act II

Our Act II Program for students grades 2-6 is a 3-week-long workshop with a focus on acting techniques, performance skills, and character development as our students work to produce a play (non-musical). Students perform a Family and Friends show on July 14 at the program location. We accept an average of 25 students into the Studio Workshop each summer. No audition is required for the Act II Program.

Act II tuition: $310; financial aid is available to qualified applicants.

Act III

Our Act III – Mainstage Musical Program for student’s rising grades 3-9 (10th grade for StageLights alumi) is a 5-week-long workshop taught by an Artistic Director, a Music Director, and a Choreographer. Students are taught dance skills that are incorporated into choreography, vocal exercises and harmonizing skills that are incorporated into multi-part musical numbers, and dramatic exercises and techniques that improve their ability to portray convincing characters. They present four public performances of their musical production, accompanied by a live music ensemble, at the Williamsburg Library Theatre. We accept an average of 30 students into the Act III Program each summer. Auditions are required for this program. Please note, this is a true audition. Unfortunately, not all who audition may be placed into this program.

(The rehearsal schedule and location will change the last week of the program. There are no excused absences during the last week.)
Performances: July 29, 2022 (7:00PM), July 30, 2022 (7:00 PM); July 31, 2022 (2:00 PM and 7:00 PM) at the Williamsburg Library Theatre.

Act III Program tuition: $510; financial aid is available to qualified applicants.

Encore

Our Encore Program for students rising seventh- to rising twelfth-grade is a 3-week-long workshop with a focus on acting techniques, performance skills, and character development as our students work to produce a play (non-musical). Students perform in two public performances of their play at the Williamsburg Library Theatre. We will accept an average of 25 students into the Encore Program each summer. Auditions are required for this program. Please note, this is a true audition. Unfortunately, not all who audition may be placed into this program. Audition dates: April 1-2, 4:30-6:00pm. Please watch our website (www.stagelightstheatre.org) for appointment sign-up.

Program dates: June 27, 2022 – July 15, 2022, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Location: TBD
