Our Mainstage Program for children rising grades 6-9 is a 5-week-long workshop taught by an Artistic Director, a Music Director, and a Choreographer. Students are taught dance skills that are incorporated into choreography, vocal exercises and harmonizing skills that are incorporated into multi-part musical numbers, and dramatic exercises and techniques that improve their ability to portray convincing characters. Students perform selected musical numbers at Merchants Square prior to a “Summer Breeze” band performance. They also present 3 public performances of their musical production, accompanied by a live music ensemble, at the Williamsburg Library Theatre. We accept an average of 30 students into the Mainstage Program each summer.
